Before & After

Every project is a transformation, but this one in particular feels like a huge change.   Our client purchased this 1980’s detached home in a private gated community in Epsom. They loved the location, the garden and the layout of the home worked for them. But every room felt tired, dated and completely lacking in character.

We were commissioned to design a more contemporary home for the family, deliver a greater feeling of light and space, and inject some real style to each room.

SITTING ROOM

The sitting room was what we like to call ‘a magnolia box’ with no real design feature or focal point.  As part of the transformation we introduced new wood effect laminate flooring to add subtle tone and texture across the space.  Bold accents of colour through lamps, cushions and artwork add pops of colour along with the bespoke upholstery to provide comfortable seating and a large footstool with a built in tray for accessories and drinks.

MUSIC ROOM

The music room was dark and oppressive and never used. Our brief here was to create a light an airy space for enjoying music practice (incorporating  a baby grand piano!) and as an occasional study space for homework and zoom calls.

As part of the transformation the first thing was to get rid of the dark green walls and replace with a much softer, subtle shade, next was some bespoke joinery to design the bespoke joinery to include a desk space, book case and storage cupboards.  The ridged detail on the back panel looks great but also conceals electrics and power sockets so that if our clients decide to change how this room is used in the future, the artwork can be removed and a wall hung TV can be added quickly and easily.

The lighting was also terrible in this room, we improved adding both functional and decorative lighting and subtle LED lighting in the joinery.  Lastly we designed a bespoke area rug to add softness to the space and improve acoustics.  The in finishing touches include bolder accents of colour through lamps, cushions  and artwork to complete the space.
